Traconitis refers to a rare disease characterized by inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane that covers the sclera (the white part) of the eyes. Symptoms can include pain, redness, and thickening of the conjunctiva, which may lead to inflammation of the cornea, called keratitis, in severe cases. The exact cause behind trachoma remains unclear, but it's believed to stem from infection with the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis.
