Schizoid (not sciuroid) is an adjective that means:
1. Having or showing a lack of interest, enjoyment, or responsiveness towards people and social activities, often in favor of intellectual or abstract pursuits.
2. Relating to schizoid personality disorder, a mental disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships and a tendency to be detached and aloof.
It is named after the Greek word "σχίζω" (schizó), which means "to split" or "to cleave". The prefix "schizo-" is also seen in other words like schizophrenia, which shares a similar meaning.
