Romansh is a Romance language spoken in southeastern Switzerland and north-eastern Italy. It is the directly attestable descendant of the spinal Rhaeto-Romance languages (also called Eastern Romance) of the Late Latin period. Romansh is a national language, along with German, Italian, and French, officially recognized by the Swiss Constitution and upheld in the country's linguistic canton, Grisons (Graubünden).
