"Quadratrix" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
The quadratrix, also known as the quadratrix of Hippias, is a curve used in mathematics, particularly in geometry. Specifically, it is a regular curve traced out by a line segment whose length is proportional to the angle it has rotated through; as the line turns, the length of the segment being traced is proportional to the angle of rotation through which it has rotated.
Another name for the curve is the spiral of Archimedes, although it is distinct from the more well-known example of the spiral with the same name that is now usually referred to as Archimedes' spiral.
