A term used in biology.Polyphyodont (from Greek "poly" meaning many and "phyo" meaning birth) refers to the replacement of teeth throughout a tooth-bearing individual's life, where multiple sets of teeth are produced serially at different stages of life. Polyphyodontism is a characteristic of some species, including sharks, rabbit and frogs, whereas in others, such as humans, the first set of teeth, known as deciduous teeth, are replaced by a single set of permanent teeth.
