"Monogamic" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
Monogamic refers to a sexual relationship or marriage in which one person is married to only one other person, and with only one other person, permanently and exclusively. It is the opposite of polygamy, which is the practice of having multiple spouses at the same time.
Monoenoic refers to a type of fatty acid or lipid molecule that has only one double bond in its carbon chain. In other words, a monoenoic acid is a fatty acid with one unsaturated bond. This is in contrast to polyenoic, which has multiple double bonds. Monoenoic acids are found in many naturally occurring lipids and are an important component of cell membranes in living organisms.
A monoester is a type of organic compound that contains a single ester group. An ester group is a functional group typically formed by the reaction of an acid with an alcohol. In a monoester, this ester group is bonded to only one alcohol molecule, differing from polyesters, which have multiple ester groups. Monoesters often have a specific structure, such as a fatty acid ester, where a fatty acid molecule (e.g., oleic acid) is bonded to an alcohol molecule (e.g., ethanol).
A person who practices monogamy, which means being married to or romantically involved with only one person at a time, and is committed to exclusivity and loyalty in a relationship.
Having a romantic or sexual relationship with only one person at a time; exclusively devoted to one partner.
