The Lenape is a Native American tribe native to the northeastern United States. Their name "Lenape" means "people of the land" or "genuine people" in their language. The Lenape had traditionally inhabited the area that is now New York City, New Jersey, and eastern Pennsylvania, and were one of the many tribes in the region that were affected by European colonization and the subsequent displacement of Native American populations.
