"Extumescence" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
Extumescence refers to the state of protrusion or swelling outwards, often in reference to bodily parts such as swollen veins, arteries, or even bodily fluids. This term is often applied in medical or anatomical contexts to describe a physical condition or abnormality.
Extumescence is a bit of an uncommon word, but I'll do my best to provide some examples for you. Here are five usage examples:
Extrusive refers to rocks or minerals that form above the Earth's surface, often as a result of volcanic activity, and are then exposed to the environment. This can include volcanic eruptions, lava flows, and the rapid cooling of magma (molten rock) to form igneous rocks such as basalt or pumice. Extrusive rocks are typically characterized by their glassy or dulled appearance, with little to no evidence of weathering or erosion.
To extubate means to remove a tube from a person's airway, such as a breathing tube (endotracheal tube) or a feeding tube (nasogastric tube).
Extubation is the removal of a breathing tube, also known as an endotracheal tube, from a person's airway. This typically occurs in a hospital setting, usually after a patient has recovered from a serious medical condition or surgery and is able to breathe on their own without the need for mechanical ventilation.
Exuberant is an adjective that means full of high-spirited enthusiasm and energy, often in a somewhat unrestrained or over-the-top manner. A person who is exuberant is likely to be lively, enthusiastic, and possibly a bit chaotic or unpredictable, often with a strong emotional expression.
To exuberate means to overflowing with enthusiasm, excitement, or emotion, typically in a way that is almost too much to contain. It can also refer to the act of giving out or emitting something in abundance, such as energy, happiness, or ideas.
