"Elamite" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
The Elamites were an ancient people who lived in what is now southwestern Iran, specifically in the region of Elam, from around 3000 BCE to 539 BCE. They had their own language, culture, and traditions, and were known for their skill in metalwork, particularly silverworking. The Elamites were also renowned for their architectural achievements, such as the construction of the ancient city of Susa, which was their capital.
Elaioplasts are types of organelles found in plant cells, responsible for synthesizing and storing lipid molecules, particularly fatty acids. They are also known as lipid bodies or oil bodies.
Elaiosomes are specialized structures found in some seeds, particularly those of the Myrtle family (Myrtaceae), which contain a nutrient-rich oil. These seeds, often referred to as "elaisome-seeds," have evolved to attract specific insects, such as ants and beetles, that help disperse them by carrying the seeds away from the parent plant to a new location. The elaiosomes are essentially tasty treats for these insects, which are attracted to the nutrient-rich oil, and in return, they help spread the seeds to new areas, allowing the plants to propagate and colonize new environments.
Elan is a noun. It refers to a feeling or display of energy, enthusiasm, and strength, especially in movement or action. It can also mean a high-spirited or spirited quality, often in a person. For example: "She bounced into the room with an infectious elan, lifting everyone's mood."
