"Durable" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
Capable of withstanding wear and tear, weathering, or other forms of damage without becoming worn out or ineffective; strong and sturdy.
A duploid is a cell or an organism that has two complete sets of chromosomes, one inherited from each parent. This is in contrast to a haploid, which has only one set of chromosomes. Duploidy can occur naturally in some species or be the result of genetic mutations or artificial genetic manipulation. In cells, duploidy can occur when a cell undergoes mitosis or meiosis and fails to separate its chromosomes properly, resulting in two daughter cells that each contain two complete sets of chromosomes. Duploidy is often seen in cancer cells, where it can contribute to the development and progression of tumors.
Durables refers to goods or products that are designed to last for a long time, typically longer than non-durable goods. Examples of durables include furniture, appliances, electronics, and cars. In contrast to non-durables, which are meant to be used up quickly and then replaced, durables are often purchased with the expectation that they will remain in use for several years.
