"Choephori" Natural Recordings by Native Speakers
Choephori is a Greek word, plural of "choeophoros", which means "bearers of the funeral couch" or "pallbearers". In ancient Greek tragedy, Choephori refers to the second play in the trilogy of Sophocles' Electra, following Electra and preceding Orestes.
The Choctaw people were a Native American tribe that originally inhabited the southeastern United States, particularly in what is now Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The name "Choctaw" is derived from the Choctaw word "chakta," which means "people of the sun." They were a significant tribe in the region, and their culture, language, and traditions continue to be celebrated and preserved today.
